Very impressed with my first experience

By Dick Rower

from Decatur, Texas

Pros

  • Easy to Use
  • Efficient

Cons

    Best Uses

Just had my first experience of a Row GX at Fit 'N Wise, Decatur.
Very impressed, very close to a Concept in performance, excellent catch.
Only concern is how well will the band last before it starts to stretch and produce a soft catch rather than a hard catch? Most other rowers, including the HX have far too soft a catch to be that useful if you also get out in a boat, in my case an eight, regularly
Been rowing for over 50 years and still train on a Concept 2A at home

I belong to a gym which used to have Concept rowing machines. That is what I am used to, that is what I thought was a great workout. With the new academic year, the gym got a new set of rowing machines, LifeFitness GX rowers.OMG, what an incredible difference! This is a far superior workout than what I've become accustomed to. This feels more like you are rowing on water. I love this machine!

              • Throwing Out

Words cannot describe how much I do not like this product. After rowing on it for just five minutes I realized how badly made this peice of equipment is. It appears that they cut corners in the construction, using thin belts instead of chains to connect to the handle to to the turbine. It completely models rowing wrong. First off during a stroke with this erg there is next to no resistance at the beginning of the stroke. Then the resistance increases slowly and then drops back down to nothing. I would not recommend this erg to anyone who has any interest in rowing. The leading competitor concept 2 makes an erg that costs less then half of the price and they truely stand by their product. Take some advice from a rower of 8+ years and do not buy this machine.
